TRLCA State Office Candidates

Shirley Weaver Announces Intent

to Seek TRLCA Presidency

I would like to take this opportunity to announce to you the members of the TRLCA my candidacy for the office of President.
I have served you as trustee from 1995 through 2001. This past year I served as your vice-president. I have been a member of this association for 32 years. I have been a regular carrier for 31 years. I was selected outstanding carrier of the year in 1995. I have been involved in QWL/EI since the beginning of the process. I am presently serving as craft co-chair for the Houston DJSC. I am local steward for my office. I have been a member of the Sam Houston local for 32 years where I served as secretary/treasurer from the beginning until I was elected to the state board. At that time I resigned for someone else to take a part in the local.
I am devoted to my church, family and community as I serve you in my association responsibilities.
I believe the experience I have gained while serving this association for the past seven years qualifies me for the duties and responsibilities of President of the Texas Rural Letter Carrier Association.
My husband Billy and I have been married 41 years. Billy has been active in the Auxiliary since his retirement as a state game warden September 30,1993. We have two daughters Vickie and Cheryl. Vickie and her husband Larry live in Coldspring and are the parents of Brian and Kayla Peterson. Vickie is an RCA out of the Coldspring Office. Cheryl and her husband Billy Sanders live in Rockport and are the parents of Jeffery Lewis. Cheryl teaches in Aransas Pass. Brian 16, Jeff 13, and Kayla 11 are active Juniors and the pride of Grannie and PaPa.
I consider myself a people person. I have tried to treat everyone fair and honest when making any decision or when talking to any of you. I have tried to respect each rural carrier across this great state to the best of my ability. My pledge has been and will always be to return your phone calls when I am unable to answer when you call. I believe my service exemplifies my dedication, commitment and pledge to do everything possible to improve the TRLCA and promote what is in the best interest of all rural carriers.
I would appreciate your vote and support for President of the TRLCA at the state convention in Corpus Christi.
Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and their heart is always open to you. They are "there", always.

Terry Stubblefield

Announcement of Candidacy

Office of TRLCA Vice President

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for the office of Vice President of the Texas Rural Letter Carriers Association. I have served as Trustee of the TRLCA for the past 5 years. I have been a member of the Association since I became a RCA in 1988. I am a member of the Dallas District Joint Steering Committee. I have served as an Academy Trainer, and a Facilitator in the QWL/EI process.

I am a member and President of the Houston County Local 044.

I believe the knowledge I have gained serving the rural craft, combined with my experience serving on the TRLCA Board qualifies me for the duties and responsibilities of the office of Vice President of the TRLCA.

My wife Brenda and I have been married 24 years. Brenda is an active Auxiliary member. Our children, Mandy and Trevor, grew up in the Junior Auxiliary.

I have always tried to be fair and honest when making decisions brought before the board. I have tried to represent each Rural Carrier to the best of my ability. I have your best interest at heart and will do everything in my power to serve you, The Texas Rural Letter Carriers. I believe in this organization and its goal to promote the betterment of all Rural Carriers.

I would appreciate your vote and support for my Candidacy for the Office of Vice President of the TRLCA at the upcoming 2002 State convention in Corpus Christi.

Sincerely,
Terry Stubblefield

Janis Cassens Seeks Re-Election

as TRLCA Sec/Treas

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for the position of Secretary/Treasurer of The Texas Rural Letter Carriers' Association.

I have worked for the US Postal Service since 1977. During the last 24 years, I have served customers on H, J, K, L and non L routes. I have been a local and area steward. I have been an academy trainer and a
Southern Area trainer. I have served on rural route adjustment teams and conflict resolution teams. I have seen a tremendous change in our jobs and that the attitude of the postal service as it relates to the
rural craft has come full circle.

I served as a State Trustee for two years and was elected State Secretary/Treasurer last year. It has been a very busy year. I have done my best to serve you, the members of this association. During this last year, I have tried to implement a new computer system to come on line with the National Data Base. Our financial accounts are now computerized. Our membership is growing. There are 9157 seperate entries, both members and non members on our data base. This is a very large job and I hope that I have been able to be responsive to the needs of the membership.

I ask for your vote and support as I seek another term as your Secretary/Treasurer.
Thank you,
Janis Cassens

Polly Alexander Announces

Candidacy for Re-election

At this time I am announcing my plans to seek re-election as Trustee for the State Board of Texas. I have served as a Trustee for the past year on the unexpired term of the position formerly held by Shirley Weaver who was elected Vice-President of the Association last June. I have held the position of FECA Representative since being appointed to that position last July.

I have been a member of the Texas Rural Letter Carriers' Association since the beginning of my employment with the U.S. Postal Service. I have been a local steward for almost 15 years. I was an Area Steward for almost 4 years in the Northeast Texas Area having resigned in December 2001. I am and have been actively involved in QWL/EI for many years. I have been a facilitator as well as currently serve as a member of the Dallas District Joint Steering Committee.

No, I do not think that QWL/EI is the perfect solution for everything. With management participation, many things could be accomplished. As we all know who are involved with QWL/EI, lack of management participation is one of the major obstacles we face with the process. I have seen many positive things accomplished. QWL/EI is not an overnight solution for any problem, it is an ongoing process that we have to continue to work at.

I am a rural carrier just like you! I have the same concerns as you! I carry a route and no, my RCA doesn't carry my route more than I do. I am very rarely off on a Monday or a day after a holiday. I want to take care of my route and my customers.

I am proud to be a rural carrier and have always felt that I have the best job in the postal service. Just like other rural carriers, I was not happy with the new standards and the recent mail count we had. I was one of the lucky people who did not suffer a large loss on my route. This does not prevent me from being sympathetic to those who did.

I have been Secretary/Treasurer of my local for several years and until I became President which I presently am and have been for the past few years. I was co-chair of the State Convention in Texarkana in 1999. I have served as a member of the Conflict Resolutions Team in the Dallas District. I have actively participated in State Conventions since 1988 serving on various committees as well as Booster Meetings and SWAC. I have attended 7 National Conventions, having been a delegate for 5 and an alternate for one.

My objective and desire has always been to represent rural carriers and protect their rights. I have never set myself higher before or after being elected to the State Board. I am the same person this year as I was last year. Those of you who have called me on the phone or emailed me, know that I am prompt to return your call or answer your emails. If you have had questions that I have been unable to answer, I have attempted to get an answer to your question as soon as possible and get back with you. I have spent many hours on the phone listening to rural carriers discuss their concerns. Many times listening is all it took to help carriers.

I am a wife, mother and grandmother, but I am also a rural letter carrier. I would not seek re-election if I did not have my husband, Joe's support. I will support my craft whether I am a Board Member or not. I encourage all rural carriers to support the Texas Rural Letter Carriers' Association as well as the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association. Now more than ever, it is important that we stand together as a craft.

Things don't always turn out the way we would like, but we all know that we can't just give up and quit. When you receive your ballot for National Delegates, take time to vote. Those who attend the National Convention as delegates are the ones who represent YOU!

I would appreciate your support for Trustee of the State Board of Texas.

Sincerely,
Polly Alexander

Lisa Lee Seeks

TRLCA Trustee Position

My name is Lisa Lee and I am announcing my candidacy for the position of Trustee for the TRLCA. I have spent my entire postal career in Longview TX, starting as an RCA in 1988 and converting to regular status in 1998.

I have been an active member of this Association at the Local level for a number of years, currently serving as Vice President of Local 036 and have attended State and National Conventions both at my own expense and as an elected Delegate representing my Local and the state of Texas. I also hope to serve as Delegate to the National Convention again this year. I served as local steward in Longview for a number of years, beginning when I was still an RCA and finally as Chief Steward for both stations.

At state conventions, I have served on the Elections, Credentials and Constitution & By Laws Committees and will serve whichever Committee assigned to me again this year. I also participated in the Redistricting Committee this past year. I have also taken on the task of providing the Unofficial Web Site for the TRLCA.

My wish and drive would be to represent each member of this Association equally and fairly both disbursing information and listening to the members' needs and ideas. Therefore, I hereby offer my services as Trustee of the TRLCA in the elections to be held at the State Convention.

I would appreciate your support and your vote.

Victor Rodriguez

Announces for Trustee Position

Hello everyone, I am Victor C. Rodriguez and I am announcing my candidacy for state trustee. I have had a varied career in the rural craft. I have participated as an RCA, Regular, Steward, QWL/EI, Facilitator, Local Officer, Local Committees, Local Committee Chair, Local President. I have been to every state convention since I joined, every SWAC conference since they began, and eight national conventions since Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. It has been very enlightening and thrilling to watch this organization work at all these levels. I am thankful to all the people that I have met that have helped me to gain a better understanding of my craft. We have had a series of set-backs in our craft since the conclusion of the 1999 contract. With the advent of 2000 Extension, 2002 Arbitration and most recently the 2002 Mailcount, we are facing many new challenges in our future. I can only hope that we all take the opportunity to participate in making our union better for all members and future members. I hope to bring my experience and my abilities in moving our association forward. I appreciate this opportunity to serve you as state trustee, and I look forward to seeing you in Corpus Christi for our state convention.

Thanks,

Victor

Freida Hartman
Announcement of Candidacy for Trustee

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for the Office of TRLCA Trustee.
I have been active in the State Association for many years attending the State Conventions since 1989, SWAC for the past 5 years and 3 National Conventions.
I served as Convention chairman in 1997 in Amarillo, served on the Historical Committee for 6 years and was on the Time and Place Committee twice.
I am a member of the Panhandle Local 65 and served in all capacities of office since 1986, the last as President for many years.

I am an Area Steward for the upper Panhandle and Amarillo area. Serving as an Academy Instructor has given me a chance to share our Craft and use my 26 years of experience to encourage new hires.

QWL/EI has been another way to make a differance for Rural Carriers. I have been a workteam member on the Red River Team and we have been awarded District and Area Awards.I have been a facilitator and now serve on the Ft. Worth DJSC.

The Rural Carrier Craft has seen many changes in the 26 years that I have worked for the Postal Service and they have not all been good, especially with this last contract. I would consider it a privilege to work hard for this Association and serve each member to the best of my ability. Everyone working together is the only way that we can get back what we have lost as a Craft, if we pull against each other then we will be divided and conquered, we cannot let this happen.

We will have to provide a United Front to the Postal Service. As your Trustee, I would represent every carrier and be available to all calls and e-mails. If do not know the answer then I'll find someone that does. I'd like to say that I know it all but I don't, I would not be ashamed to ask questions of someone else so that I could get you the right answers.

I have the support of my husband, Ronnie, and the rest of my family. We have been married for 35 years, have two sons and a daughter, a wonderful daughter-in-law and son-in-law, and five grandchildren.

I would appreciate your vote and support for Trustee of the Texas Rural Letter Carrier Association.

Sincerely,
Freida Hartman

National Delegate Candidates

Jackie Glancy

If you would like someone to vote as you would, please elect Jackie Glancy as a national delegate. Thank-you

Paul H. Lillibridge
Carrollton TX

To My Fellow Rural Carriers:

My name is Paul Lillibridge and I would like to represent you as a Delegate to the 2002 National Convention in Portland ME. I am an active Union member, attended all my local meetings as well as several others, State Conventions and SWAC. So if you feel that I can speak for you, then please elect me as your National Delegate.

Thank-you!

Shari Standard
Henderson TX

My name is Shari Standard and I am asking for your vote for National Delegate. I have attended the last three National Conventions at my own expense and have sat through all the meetings.

I have been the Secretary/Treasurer for Local 36 for approximately six years. I have been attending the state conventions for approximately six years, at which time I have served on the tellers committee for one year, elections committee for two years and the credentials committee for the last two years. I have attended the last five SWAC meetings and also Booster meetings.

My husband is very active in the auxiliary. Once again I would appreciate your vote for me for National Delegate and I would like to urge each and everyone of you to get involved in our Association.

Victor Rodriquez

Rowlette, TX

My name is Victor C. Rodriguez, and I am hoping to represent you and the rest of Texas at the National Convention in Portland Maine. I have been to many National Conventions as delegate and a non-delegate. Since 1988 I have experienced many changes in my postal career. In the five years nine months of being a RCA and carrying mail in everything from a borrowed jeep to a beat up fourteen year old car, that mail has gone from all random mail to sector segment and now delivery point sequence as well as automated helicopter flats, I believe that my experience in all these situations enables me to be knowledgeable on many facets of our craft to the benefit of not only my Texas union brothers and sisters but also at the national level as your national delegate. I appreciate your consideration and vote for national delegate.

Thanks,

Victor
